In 1943, Fraternity Founder and long-time Executive Director William L. “Uncle Billy” Phillips started a scholarship fund to help undergraduates with the rising costs of college. Increased by the addition of Uncle Billy’s estate in 1956, today’s Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation funds initiatives that develop the academic, leadership, citizenship, and personal potential of SigEp’s undergraduate members. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, family and friends, the Foundation continues to provide support for scholarships, leadership programming, and safe, competitive undergraduate housing. The Educational Foundation is led by the Foundation Trustees, and the SigEp National Advancement Council supports the work of fundraising.
The Foundation funds efforts at the national and chapter level. They support leadership programs that prepare men for roles in college and beyond, scholarships that encourage academic achievement, and housing projects that foster excellence. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and all gifts to the Foundation are 100% tax-deductible.
Being a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon has influenced John’s life in many positive ways. Supporting balanced leaders for our nation’s communities is very important to us here at Chartered Financial Services.
